EDUCATION CHARTER INTERNATIONAL

Education Charter International is literature comprising the declaration of higher Education and ten principles of UN Global Compact and is being promoted as an awareness campaign to spread the message of Higher education for better livelihood.

The initiative of promoting the education charter international is taken by CCLP Worldwide and as of 2009 Citizens,Governmental, Inter-Governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations of more than 600 cities and 110 Countries have endorsed and supported the ethos and aim of education Charter international.

History
The movement of advocacy of higher education started in the suburbs of London, UK by few citizens of Asian origin in the year 1999.Within a year it spread its movement from Europe to Asian Countries and become an international place for advocating something good for society,It was decided to change the headquarter of the international advocacy from UK to some under developed or developing countries and resolved for India Kolkata.And the entire council was transferred to more dynamic youth of the society.
The Global Civil society movement has seen the history of 10 years (1999-2009).This advocacy was projected at international level and universal declaration of UNESCO towards the higher education for twenty first century was adopted as its core founding principles of charter.In the year 2004 formal association was registered in the Indian territory to ignite the movement and promote the charter worldwide.The declaration of Higher Education for sustainable better livelihood was adopted to promote it as "Education Charter International".
The year 2008 has seen adoption of Global compact ten principles in the area of labour,human rights anti corruption and environment as founding principles to Education Charter.
The profile of CCLP worldwide has been kept international starting form the beginning and people from various parts of the world served the council from time to time.

Status and operation
CCLP Worldwide is primarily an International Organisation having presence worldwide.The head quarter is situated in Kolkata, India.The Organization is a registered NGO participant of United Nations Global Comapactfrom four Countries- India, Nigeria, Ghana and Germany
The organisation has applied for consultative status with United nations Economic and social Council (ECOSOC).The application is pending with UN
The Organisation has applied for consultative status with UNESCO.The application is pending with UN.
The Organisation has been admitted as full member of Global Compact Society of India and conference of NGO.

Membership
As of 2009 The organisation has reportedly 1800 members worldwide (It includes 96 Countries and 400 Cities).
There are two category of membership one Individual membership and second Organizational membership.
The international council is the apex body of the organisation which acts as guiding force of the organisation. The International Council has a place of noted diplomat, scholar and politician of national repute.
The lower house of the organisation is world Council which is a place of for representative of organisation from different parts of the world.At present there are 21 Ambassadors representing Organisation in their respective Country or territory.The international secretariat handles the day to day business of the organisation.
