World Energy Forum

World Energy Forum is an independent International Not-for-Profit Membership Organization which promotes cleaner and safer energy and sustainable development worldwide. The Organization was founded in 2008 by Professor Harold Hyunsuk Oh, who heads the Organization as President and Chairman.
Mission and Vision
World Energy Forum is to lead international conversation on energy issues and to educate and campaign for safer, more accessible, and more sustainable energy, and to facilitate political will of all nations and peoples as well as research, technological advancement, and capacity building so as to achieve a new global energy civilization of energy for all.
World Energy Forum Summit
Achieving energy secure-world that can benefit all nations and peoples requires the commitment from the highest political authority; therefore, World Energy Forum convenes annually the heads of states accompanied by energy ministers and top leaders of international organizations together with leaders from the world’s largest corporations, financial institutions, media, and academic establishments.
Regional Energy Forum Summits
To promote international cooperation and regionally specific issues, World Energy Forum convenes the regional groups of heads of states accompanied by their energy ministers. There are American Energy Summit, European Energy Summit, Asian Energy Summit, and African Energy Summit.
First Ladies Summit
This annual Summit is a gathering of the First Ladies along with top women leaders in politics, international affairs, the world’s largest corporations, media, and academic and research establishments to discuss women’s empowerment and women’s essential role for sustainable development worldwide.
World Energy Forum Annual Meeting
World Energy Forum meets annually in world capitals and brings together leaders from government and private sector, which provides a global platform for meaningful engagements for policy and technological advancement as well as business development. This World Energy Forum Annual Meeting facilitates country pavilions and exhibitions.
The High Level Conference On Energy At The United Nations
World Energy Forum annually convenes leaders from governments and private sector from the United Nations Member States and discusses topics pertaining to international energy issues.
World Energy Awards
World Energy Forum annually bestows World Energy Awards upon outstanding individuals or organizations whose contributions are internationally recognized. There are Humanitarian Award, Technology Innovation Award, Best Practice Award, and Energy Minister of the Year Award.
World Energy Forum Unitersity Chapters
World Energy Forum University Chapters are membership-based groups at university communities throughout the United Nations Member States that are organized to support the mission of World Energy Forum.
World Energy Monitor
World Energy Forum publishes monthly, World Energy Monitor: Leading the Global Conversation, which provides timely, informative and challenging articles presenting fresh insight in a balanced, nonpartisan context.
Smart Energy Movement
Smart Energy Movement (SEM) is to campaign for smart ways of energy practice by all constituents worldwide, including governments, producers, and consumers under the slogan of Energy for All Save the Planet. Smart Energy Index (SEI) is instituted to globally monitor the progress of Smart Energy Movement (SEM) and make recommendations for future advancement. The criteria for SEI include energy access achievement, renewable energy share energy efficiency improvement, and greenhouse gas reduction status.

World Energy Forum Club of Dubai is an international gathering of energy ministers of the United Nations Member States whose mission is to promote national and international energy polices that reflect a harmonious global perspective for worldwide economic and social development.

World Energy Fund provides technical expertise and strategic and financial support to energy projects internationally.
The World Water Organization
The World Water Organization (WWO) facilitates promulgating national and international water policy and regulatory framework, promotes academic research and technological advancement, international coordination of water resource management and humanitarian outreach.
New York Institute of Energy and Water
New York Institute of Energy and Water is a global academic community, fulfilling the educational mandate of World Energy Forum, which is a pioneering center for research and advanced academic studies in energy, water, and environment, with the mission of training new leaders to create a sustainable world that can benefit all nations and peoples.
World Energy Forum 2012, October 22-24, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
World Energy Forum organized World Energy Forum 2012 that was held on October 22-24 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where a large number of heads of states, ministers, and leaders from international organizations and private sector and more than 3,000 delegates representing 89 countries, came together under the slogan of Safer, Accessible, and Sustainable Energy for All. In Dubai, World Energy Forum proposed that energy access should be a fundamental human right of every person and proclaimed the Opening Day October 22 as World Energy Day to be annually commemorated worldwide and representatives from 60 governments and intern-governmental organizations have signed. The 3-day program included African Energy Summit and The First Ladies Summit for Sustainable Development, and there were country pavilions and exhibitions. This high-level International Energy Conference was concluded with The Dubai Declaration of Energy for All.
THE WORLD ENERGY DAY PROCLAMATION

Energy is essential to all life; without energy, there would be no life, and energy means life of all human societies. Like air and water, every human and every human society on this planet earth must have sufficient energy to live and flourish. In addition, the ways in which we generate and use energy are fundamental factors affecting the health of the earth’s natural environment upon which the destiny of human race depends.
Therefore, we are called upon to create a world where every human comes to this planet earth will have a plentiful of energy that is harmonious with nature. Working towards this end, World Energy Forum hereby proclaims October 22 of every year to be commemorated annually as the World Energy Day. The World Energy Day shall serve to stimulate worldwide awareness of energy issues and the political will and passion to support universal energy access that can benefit all nations and peoples.
The first historic World Energy Day will be celebrated on October 22, 2012 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, when the Heads of States of the United Nations Member States will come together at the Opening Day of World Energy Forum 2012, to be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai and hosted by the Supreme Council of Energy of the Government of Dubai, in order to discuss humanity’s sustainable future, with a message, “safe, accessible, and sustainable energy for all,” and that message shall truly be embodied in the marking of the first World Energy Day in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
On October 22, 2012, the Heads of States gathered at World Energy Forum 2012 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates will ratify the World Energy Day to be observed annually by all nations and peoples of the world at community, national, and international levels by holding educational, scientific, and artistic programs everywhere, including media and at the campuses of schools, colleges, and universities throughout the world, stimulating energy discussions, inspiring imaginations to innovate, and discover new ways.
World Energy Forum will globally coordinate the World Energy Day observations. World Energy Forum’s Annual Conference will be held during the week and World Energy Awards will be bestowed upon individuals or organizations whose contributions are publicly recognized.
THE DUBAI DECLARATION OF ENERGY FOR ALL
We, the heads of states and ministers of the United Nations member states, together with the representatives of international organizations, civil societies, academies and leaders from the private sector gathered at World Energy Forum 2012 during October 22-24:
We commend the host country the United Arab Emirates for its 2021 vision for a green economy, its emergence as a global champion for sustainable energy, responsible development and the efficient use of hydrocarbon resources and Dubai as a role model for its vision, innovations, and achievements in energy efficiency.
In recognition of the critical role that energy plays in human, economic, and social development: We hereby reaffirm our united commitment to the goal of delivering safe, accessible, and sustainable energy to all nations and peoples.
We recognize the need for national energy polices which reflect a harmonious global perspective so as to promote international collaboration between developed and developing nations.

We seek to promote policies that will implement structures and mechanisms by which developed nations may make and fulfill financial and technological commitments to alleviate energy poverty in developing nations.

We support the mobilization of expertise across borders in order to nurture the development of human capacity in a true spirit of pursuit of the common good of humanity.

We recognize the need for continuing role of responsible use of fossil fuels, while seeking the acceleration of an affordable transition to renewable energy, which we believe is critical for the support of economic growth and the mitigation of climate change.
We recognize that improving energy efficiency is an environmentally sound and cost effective approach towards energy sustainability, and we support policies that address the issue of increasing efficiency by widening the implementation of energy efficient transportation networks, industrial processes, buildings, power grids and to broaden the incorporation of energy efficiency and sustainability measures in urban and regional planning.

We recognize the need to adapt existing, and in some cases create new international market structures, regulations, and policies in order to promote increased investments in sustainable energy by private and public capital with the use of public private partnerships to stimulate and enable actions and the need to maintain attractive and non-discriminatory legislative environments for investors in the energy sector.

Therefore, we declare our support for the World Energy Day October 22 to be commemorated worldwide annually to raise grassroots awareness and inspire creativity and imaginative thinking.
We declare our support for energy access as a fundamental human right of every person.

We declare our support for worldwide Smart Energy Movement (SEM) with the participation by all to build a new energy paradigm that can advance global economic and social development towards a New Energy Civilization of Accessible and Sustainable Resources for All.

We declare our support for the African Energy Summit to be convened under the auspices of World Energy Forum annually and encourage other regional group of nations to organize similar Summits.

We declare our support for the First Ladies Summit for Sustainable Development to be convened under the auspices of World Energy Forum annually that enhances women’s roles and contributions to sustainable development.

We declare our support for annual World Energy Forum to review actions undertaken for the implementation of Dubai Declaration and to chart future progress.
