Ronnie Madra

Ronnie Madra (born December 15, 1971) is an entrepreneur, and nightlife personality based in New York City. He is known as a team member in the Butter Group owned by Richie Akiva and Scott Sartino and involvement with 1Oak, The Darby, Up&Down and Butter Restaurant.
Early life
Madra is British Guyanese. He grew up in Jamaica, Queens after immigrating in 1981.
Early career
Madra started out as a DJ who then hosted and executed events under his company Playhouse Productions.

During the time Madra moonlighted in the nightlife industry, he was also working a day job as a set designer in the fashion industry with Miami agency M.A.P.S (Mobile Arts Production Services) owned by Paul C. Lardi and Tom Pace III. In the evening Madra promoted and dj-ed at Bash nightclub multiple times a week.
Formation of Butter Group
Madra met Richie Akiva in the early 2000s while they both worked at LIFE. The two teamed up to create Butter Monday nights. Akiva approached Madra and began discussing the potential to branch out on their own. The following year the duo developed their concept and secured funding for their dream of creating 1 OAK (One of a Kind) which opened in December 2007.

Following the success of 1 OAK, Madra and the team opened 1 OAK Las Vegas, Mexico and Los Angeles under their umbrella company Butter Group which was founded by former 50/50 partners Richie Akiva and Scott Sartiano until the former bought the latter's shares. in 2014. In 2011, Madra and the team opened the supper club The Darby, under head chef Alex Guarnaschelli, in the space formerly known as Nell's.
A few months after the Darby had closed the partners of Butter Group opened the new Up&Down.
Up&Down continues to run under Madra and co hosting events with partners including The Met Ball attendees, MTV VMA's, and Alexander Wang. Butter Group opened lounge NeverNever directly next door.

Butter Group also holds pop ups around the world during the Monaco Grand Prix, Paris, London and Milan Fashion Weeks, Winter Music Conference, Cannes, and Art Basel.
