The Rolex Gang is a South African gang. The Rolex Gang is an organized crime unit that specifically steels Rolex watches and sells them to dealers and Private buyers. The so-called Rolex Gang nick name is self explanatory. Their modus operandi conssits of identifying shoppers at high-end shops in the Sandton , Johannesburg area and following them to their homes where they rob them of their Rolex watches and any other luxury goods.
The gang's members are believed to dress impeccably, drive top-of-the-range cars and wear expensive jewelry to allow them to blend in with their surroundings. They are all armed and will kill without hesitation. They have different modus operandi, they could team up as a gang of 20 to rob a store or a team of 2, the robberies are often referred to as "vicious".
After more than a year of denying that Johannesburg's notorious Rolex gang existed, the South African police claimed to have arrested the alleged mastermind of the syndicate.
The alleged mastermind was arrested in Morningside South Africa following a tip off. On a previous occasion He was arrested and release after applying to the South Gauteng High Court where R10 000 bail was granted.
The problem is still ongoing, and has not been resolved. It is currently considered to be dangerous for anyone wearing or buying Rolex watches in South Africa.
