Roger Whitfield (born 9 June 1965 in Bristol) is a Businessman and Independent Political Candidate, previously elected as a town councillor he served 4 years representative for Portishead, Somerset. Roger was one of the first people to sign up for membership of the Jury Team and one of the first people to sign up as a prospective Independent candidate, the Jury Team is a first in British politics, they are the only non political party, they only promote truely independent candidates. He has worked in the Insurance industry from the age if 17, at the age of 28 he started an Insurance brokerage and at the age of 34 started a computer business. He has a wife and 2 children and takes an active role in the community. 3 Years ago he qualified as a Football Association coach and has been coaching a childrens football team in his spare time. August 2008 he started a campaign to save the Portishead Open Air Pool which had been closed by the council. He used his knowlege of business as well as council experience to mount a high profile campaign that came to fruition in March 2009 with an announcement from the council that the pool is to be handed over to the Portishead Pool Community Trust.
