Robert J McLeod

Robert J McLeod (Rob or Robert McLeod) (born October 11, 1982) is a disc sports competitor in ultimate frisbee, disc golf, dog disc and overall disc sports competitions. He currently holds 2 world records, one with Skyhoundz, which is a canine disc federation and the other through the Quadruped (2)http://blip.tv/discdognation/the-rookie-6036852, which is a canine disc distance competition.
Personal life
Robert McLeod was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, to a middle class 3rd generation Scottish family and he was raised in Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada. Robert's father was a banker who later became a teacher and his mother was a youth group coordinator at their local church.
Disc Sports
Rob started throwing a disc (frisbee) in September 2000 when he was attending the University of Alberta as a student in engineering. He later transferred to Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia after the death of his mother in May of 2001. Throwing frisbees would become his form of grief and after joining the Dalhousie/King's Ultimate Team (DKUT) in the Fall of 2001, he quickly became known as a thrower, as he would often spend upwards of 2 hours every day throwing a frisbee on the Wickwire Field at Dalhousie. He would eventually run the team his final 2 years at Dalhousie before transferring to the University of Calgary where he switched to the commerce department in the Haskayne School of Business. He would continue to play ultimate frisbee and would compete at the Canadian Ultimate Championships 3 times over the next 7 years, winning a bronze with the Calgary men's team Invictus two of those times. Thanks to his friend and colleague Gian-Carlo Carra, an Alderman in the City of Calgary, Robert would start playing disc golf in the fall of 2010, which he soon fell in love with. In the Summer of 2011, Robert competed in 6 disc golf tournaments, finishing in the top 5 four times. That also included a 12th place finish at the 2011 WFDF World Overall Disc Sport Championships in Fort Collins, Colorado. In the Fall of 2011 Robert also competed in his first dog disc competition in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he won the Skyhoundz Xtreme Distance Competition (3)http://skyhoundz.com/world_champions.html at the 2011 Skyhoundz World Canine Disc Championships and also set a World Record (4)http://skyhoundz.com/skyhoundz_world_records.html in the Men's Classic Plastic division at the qualifying event several weeks before with Davy Whippet. Robert would compete in his second dog disc competition, the Quadruped in Houston, Texas on Sunday, March 18, where he finished 2nd and set another World Record (5)http://blip.tv/discdognation/the-rookie-6036852, again with Davy Whippet.
Ultimate Rob
In addition to his time spent training and competing, Robert is also the founder and main driver behind Ultimate Rob (6)http://www.ultimaterob.com, an instructional website for ultimate frisbee that includes articles and videos from more than 10 contributors. Robert focuses on teaching new players, coaches and captains to help them play ultimate better.
