Richard M. Flood

Richard M. Flood is a former political prisoner who served a long term in the Illinois state prison system. While in prison, he educated himself in the disciplines of history, political science, civil and criminal law. He was subsequently sent to the Tamms Correctional Center in Illinois in reprisal for his valuable organizing and legal work on behalf of other prisoners. He is also a retired member of Ironworkers Local #1 (Chicago) . He is the author of several perceptive essays, including, "Towards a Theory of Revolutionizing Street Nations," which appears in the political scientific journal, "Socialism and Democracy,"(#33). Richard M. Flood has formally renounced from any affiliation with illegal gang activity, although he still hopes that others may become educated to the dynamics of street gang mentality. Some of his supporters include; Howard Zinn, (A People's History of the United States) Victor Wallis, (editor, "Socialism & Democracy) Peter Hudis, (News & Letters Committee, in Chicago) and Anthony Rayson (PPWC and STAND founder).
