Life
Richard Holland was born in Pennsylvania, US in 1959. Wanting to travel the world, Holland joined the United States Navy in 1978. While serving on duty as a petty officer first class he visited Japan and developed a great appreciation and love for the country and its culture.
Holland studied engineering. After declining a job offer from NASA, he moved to Japan to live with his new wife. Holland received life-threatening injuries that almost left him paralyzed when he was hit by a car while participating in a bike race in Japan. After a complete recovery Holland began believing in miracles.
After living in Japan for 20 years, with his wife, Holland moved to Hawaii in the 1990’s. Together, they had 7 children and lived on the island of Maui. His first daughter named Ariya, died at a young age.
Work
Holland had an entrepreneurial spirit with the goal of owning a business in nature. In Hawaii, he inherited a tour company named "Dolphins and You." The company takes guests on tours to swim with wild dolphins. Dolphins and You was started from scratch and has grown into a tour that hosts more than 20,000 participants every year through various activities. Expanding beyond a single tour, Holland created “And You Creations,” that provides seven different tours.
Holland has become a successful businessman in Hawaii and now has family in Japan and Hawaii. Based on what he has learned through life in Hawaii, Holland has written a Japanese book promoting habits for happiness. In 2018 he began public speaking throughout Japan to promote the life lessons he has learned.
