Retro housewife

A Retro housewife is a married woman who embraces the role of wife, mother, and housewife rather than working outside of the home.
The 1960s and 1970s marked the rise of feminism as we know it today, and as a result, women made huge advancements in the work force both in number of women working as well as the type of work being performed. Today there is hardly a profession or occupation where women are not employed.
However some women have found the demands of holding down a job or building a career as well as bearing and raising children overwhelming, and have either postponed having children, or are opting to leave the work force and devote themselves to home and family.
The modern version of the housewife has women pursuing an education, entering the work force and then leaving to care for children. This is the reverse of what the women of the 60's and 70's faced, when women were expected to marry early, and working outside the home was only an option when the children were grown.
