Retest is a statistical term which is intended to indicate the "reliability of the data at hand. The term is highly used in social studies and humanistics. One a set of data is obtained through using an assessment tool on a target audience, the researcher needs to be sure of whether this data only describes the current state of his sample, or that it indicates a chore charactersitic and state of the sample. In other words whether the data is "reliable" or not. For this reason, a retest is carried out.
Procedure After assessing a sample and acquiring a set of data, the reseracher lets time pass (uusually more than three weeks) and then uses the same assessment tool to assess the same target sample. The researcher then compares the data from both sets to see if they are significantly different (unreliable) or meaningfully similar (reliable.
