The Republic of Norway will become the official name of a country in northern Europe, which currently is known as the Kingdom of Norway - in case they decide to change their form of government. Modern Norway gain their independence from Sweden in 1905, and after what was seen by many as a staged plebiscite, the new country became a monarchy with Haakon VII as the king. Although the three kings on the Norwegian throne since independence has received great popularity, there has always been a republican movement in the country. In later years this has gain more and more support, and it is expected that the death of the current king Harald V will lead to widespread demonstrations in the country, supporting a new plebiscite - this time fair and square that will decide upon the country's future form of government.
