The Royalist Party (formerly the Conservative Royalist Party) is a political organisation which was formed in 2010 in the United Kingdom. Origins The party was originally known as the Conservative Royalist Party, a small group within the Conservative Party. With increasing numbers, the party split from the Conservatives and became a party in its own right. Policies Its main policy is to safeguard the British monarchy and maintaining a constitutional monarchy as the form of government in the United Kingdom. The Royalist Party seeks to preserve the powers and duties of the monarch and wishes to see the current ceremonial duties reversed into a role which has a direct influence in Parliament. Many voters have pledged support to the Royalist Party because of its traditionalist stance, but the party also has many progressive policies. It acknowledges the role of the European Union and has adopted a practical set of other policies for a modern British society. Although many of its members are former Conservatives, it still attracts Monarchists from all over the political spectrum. Young Royalists The Young Royalists is the youth movement of the Royalist Party, established in 2011. As stated on the official website, the Young Royalists, like other youth wings of political parties such as Young Labour or Conservative Future, aims to educate the party's policies to young people. In the case of the Young Royalists, the role of the British Royal Family in politics is discussed, as are the principles of monarchism. Membership to the Young Royalists is currently open, with applications made online via the Royalist Party's main website.
