Reporting illegal aliens in the United States

In the United States, it is possible to report suspected undocumented or illegal aliens to authorities for investigation. Many Americans support reporting illegal aliens. A survey by YouGov found that 39% of Americans support reporting illegal aliens, and would turn in their neighbors to authorities if they were illegal immigrants. Additionally, there exist websites and social media groups dedicated to reporting illegal aliens.

The handles reports about suspected illegal aliens. Tips to ICE can be sent via email, phone, or an online tip form. It is possible to give tips anonymously, by calling the ICE tip line or not disclosing contact information when using the online tip form.
Grounds for reporting
Aliens can be deported for several reasons, described in the Immigration and Nationality Act. This includes:
* Abusing or being addicted to drugs, or being convicted of a controlled substance violation
* Certain criminal offenses, including aggravated felony, some crimes of moral turpitude, and domestic violence<ref name=":1" />
* Encouraging or aiding other aliens in entering the U.S. illegally<ref name=":1" />
* Committing marriage fraud to obtain a visa or documentation<ref name=":1" />
* Committing document fraud<ref name=":1" />
Monetary rewards
Monetary rewards for reporting aliens to ICE are not guaranteed. However, ICE states that they have the "discretion and statutory authorization to pay for information and/or evidence that is used in support of criminal investigations".<ref name=":0" />
