What are the best ways to remove muck from an inland lake? I have experimented with pump and hose systems, but the water volume was too much to handle. I ended up getting a flood on shore where the muck was deposited. It will take a well constructed "holding" area to allow the water to drain out of the muck. One of the most effective methods I have tried is primitive, but works: A heavy duty "pool skimmer" has fine enough netting to scoop the muck off the bottom of the lake. It can be deposited manually on shore and after drying makes good soil for flower beds. It's a tedious process, but I have cleared a 50'x 25 swimming area this way.
