Regional at Best is the second studio album by American musical duo Twenty One Pilots released independently on July 8, 2011. This album is the first to include drummer Josh Dun after original drummer Chris Salih and bassist Nick Thomas left the group earlier that year. Background The album features Joseph's brother Zack on the track "Kitchen Sink" and Joseph's college acquaintance Jocef on the track "Be Concerned". Shortly after the album's release, the group started to expand their following through online videos posted by their friend Mark Eshelman, which was able to capture the attention of many record labels. Eventually, the group signed a deal with Fueled by Ramen. Five songs on the album—"Guns for Hands", "Holding on to You", "Ode to Sleep", "Car Radio" and "House of Gold"—would later be re-recorded and used on the group's following album, Vessel. Right after they were signed to Fueled by Ramen, production and releases for the Regional at Best were stopped altogether, which is why findings are now rare. Critical reception Music website Shameless SF described the album's songs as "well refined" and said that the music was able to maintain its "own identity".
