References to The Cure in One Tree Hill

Recurrent references to The Cure are made in the teenage drama series over the span of its first six seasons.
Storyline
One of the main characters, Peyton Sawyer (Hilarie Burton), is an avid music connoisseur, collector, and founder and owner of the Red Bedroom record label. She brings up the band a number of times throughout her appearances.
The Cure is brought up in the following scenes and episodes:
* Season 3, episode 10: Peyton and her birth mother, Ellie Harp (Sheryl Lee) discuss and compare albums by The Cure; and . Peyton describes the first time she heard Disintegration as the day she fell in love with music.
* Season 4, episode 10: Max, the vinyl record store owner (interpreted by series writer Mark Schwahn), tells Peyton to “step away from the Cure albums”.
* Season 5, episode 18: Peyton paints the lyrics to “Lovesong" (from the album Disintegration) on the basketball court known as the River Court, as a declaration of love for Lucas Scott (Chad Michael Murray).
* Season 6, episode 7: Lucas makes fun of Peyton for liking The Cure, and describes their music as "depressing and whiny"; Peyton reminds him that the lyrics she wrote on the River Court were from a Cure song.
* Season 6, episode 21: Lucas and Peyton reminisce on the day that Lucas bought, as a graduation gift for Peyton, two tickets for a Cure show to which they ended up going. They describe it as “the best concert we never went to”. Peyton teases Lucas for secretly liking The Cure, to which he replies that he rather likes kissing her to The Cure.
* Season 6, episode 22: While talking about her playlist "100 Songs To Save Your Life” in the videos addressed to her unborn daughter, Peyton cites The Cure among other musical acts, including her friends Haley James Scott (Bethany Joy Lenz) and Mia Catalano (Kate Voegle).
Soundtrack
While Peyton is a part of every scene in which The Cure is referred to in the storyline, the series’ soundtrack also uses the band’s music several times. The following songs figure in it:
* Season 1, episode 20: “Apart” from the album Wish, plays when Peyton and her best friend Brooke Davis (Sophia Bush) make amends and have a heart-to-heart conversation.
* Season 4, episode 5: “Prayers For Rain” from the album Disintegration, plays when Nathan Scott (James Lafferty) informs his mother Deb (Barbara Alyn Woods) about receiving a basketball scholarship.
* Season 6, episode 7: "Fascination Street” from the album Disintegration, plays when Lucas and Peyton, who are at war over sharing a house, sabotage each other then call a truce.
*Season 6, episode 21: “Pictures Of You” from the album Disintegration, plays as several scenes unfold: Jamie Scott (Jackson Brundage) holds hands with his crush at the school dance; Devon gets a call back for a basketball try-out with the Chiefs while Nathan doubts his future; Brooke takes Sam (Ashley Rickards) to meet her birthmother; and Lucas hands Peyton the tickets to the Cure show they never went to.
