The Recovery Research Institute (RRI) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) research institute of Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Psychiatry. The Institute was created in 2012 in recognition of an increased medical, social and economic burden attributable to substance use disorders, to conduct evidence-based research in addiction treatment and recovery. Under the leadership of Dr. John F. Kelly, the Recovery Research Institute conducts original research, summarizes, synthesizes, and disseminates existing research, and provides information in addiction treatment and recovery for public benefit. The research of the RRI is published in academic journals such as The American Journal of Medicine, Alcoholism Treatment Quarterly, Drug and Alcohol Dependence, Health Education Journal, Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment, Psychology of Addictive Behaviors.
