Dr. Ravindran Chetambath was the Principal(Dean) of Calicut Medical College since July 2009 .He retired in the year 2015. He is a medical doctor specialized in chest diseases and tuberculosis. He currently serves as the Professor of Pulmonary medicine at DM Wayanad Institute of Medical Sciences, Wayanad, Kerala. He is the associate editor of Calicut Medical Journal. He was the appellate authority under the Right to Information Act and the Chairman of the Learning Resource Center of CMC while working as Principal. He has authored more than 100 research papers for both Indian and international journals and a handbook on pediatric respiratory illness.He has recently published X-Rays-Atlas.A new syndrome- Weill Marchesani-Wayanad syndrome is described by him and his colleagues.[] He also holds a Master's degree in business administration.
