Rajesh Ram Satiija

Rajesh Ram Satiija, (born December 27, 1967) is an Indian, living in London, holding extensive mining interests in Africa. As the Chairman of the Sun and Sand Group of Companies, he is among the Top 10 Richest Asians in the United Kingdom today as per AMG’. Valued at £850 million his net worth as an individual went up by £180 million between 2015 and 2016. Per AMG’s GG2 Power 101, he also made it to the list of the Most Influential Asian People 2016. Satiija has also been included in the list of the Top 10 Wealthiest Asians in Britain’s 101 Wealthiest Asians 2015.
Satiija and his family moved to Mayfair, UK in 2013 and over the years has been known to many by his moniker “Lucky”. In addition to founding Sun & Sand Industries Africa Limited in 2001 in Ogun, Nigeria he has also been honoured with many awards for his contribution to society.
Early Life and Career
Born in Sulkhani Village, Shahabad Markhanda, in the Kurukshetra District of the state of Haryana in India. Born to parents who both pursued government jobs, Satiija started humble with an education received in a government school in the same district.
Born to a God fearing middle-class family in India, Satiija’s business approach was formed with strong beliefs in spirituality, human and family values. He started his trading operations in metals and cables from Lagos, the financial capital of Nigeria in Africa. Satiija’s business grew through acquisition of large chunks of adjacent land blocks to make provision for additional manufacturing plans. The existing production campus is spread over 90 acres offering an unprecedented and innovative production model.
Current Business
Under the banner Sun and Sand Group of Companies Satiija’s businesses manufacture ferrous and non-ferrous ingots that are made out of different alloys such as copper, lead, aluminium, stainless steel, tin and rolled iron bars. The annual production capacity is at 30,000 to 1,500,000 tonnes in different categories.
All these products find their application in the automotive sector for the purpose of manufacturing casings and other components. The local construction sector in Lagos, Nigera also find use of the rolled iron bars. The business has a registered membership of the London Metal Stock Exchange.
