Raging Dragons

The Raging Dragons are a Premier League dragon boat racing club, racing in the National League organised by the British Dragon Boat Racing Association (BDA).
History
In 2001 a group of friends formed a team sponsored by the Chinese Professionals. That team took part in the Chinatown Lions annual race. They lost but continued to stay together as a team and called themselves Dragon Flies. The Dragon Flies competed in the Chinatown Lions race in 2002 but lost again.
The Raging Dragons name was adopted after a robot wars robot, Rage, that team members Wan Da Liu and Phil Chan had built. Training was now more regular, once per week at Millwall Dock. In 2003, under the leadership of captain Simon Wong, the Raging Dragons won all the races that they entered. These charity races included the Chinatown Lions, Rotary Club International and the Superdragons.
The first of these charity race wins was at the Chung Wah event at Dorney Lake against some strong opposition. During one of the early heats they were drawn against some weaker teams. The sensible strategy would have been to conserve energy and coast to a easy victory. However, in keeping with the Raging spirit the team achieved the fastest time of the day. This turned out to be crucial as the event was terminated early due to freak weather conditions and the final positions awarded according to heat times.
Rage continued to compete at charity level for the next 2 years. Then in 2006 they entered the BDA Standard League, racing at National level. They ended the 2007 season in the top 2 of the Standard League and were promoted to the Premier League. Under the coaching of Cheng Yee, 2008 saw Rage finish 4th overall in the 200m and 5th overall in the 500m BDA Premier Leagues.
