Radio BGM

Radio BGM is a hospital radio station which serves the Prince Phillip Hospital, Llanelli. Radio BGM ( B- Bryngwyn G- Gwyn M- Mawr) did orginate from Llanelli's old Hospital base near the centre of the town. In May 1990 Radio BGM moved and relaunched in the new Prince Phillip Hospital. The station currently only broadcasts internally in the hospital via patients headphones.
Programming
The station has a wide range of programmes from Hymn /choir songs to current hits. The station runs a 2 hour Sunday Night Request Song, where staff, patients and visitors have the opportunity to request their favourite Songs, and a team of dedicated request collectors collect requests during this slot. Every Year the station runs a number of fundrasing events to raise funds. The station broadcasts live from the local st elli shopping centre as part of Hospital Broadcasting Week run by the Hospital Broadcasting Association to raise funds and awareness.
In 2005, Communities First trust fund application had been approved and as such were awarded the sum of £5,000.00 to help further develop the service and attract new members from within the surrounding areas. This money was purchased on new equipment to produce high quality programmes of local interest for the patients at the Prince Philip Hospital, and train new volunteers in the art of radio broadcasting.
The Station's Current Chairman is David Hurford, who has been a member at the station for a number of years. And the Station current Secretary is Amanda Thomas.
