Rachel Burden

Rachel Mary Ann Cecilia Burden is a radio presenter on BBC Radio 5 Live.
After several months teaching English to an international community in Taichung in Taiwan, in Summer 1995 at the age of 19 she travelled to Beijing in The People's Republic of China and found herself having to find her way across the city on foot, with no understanding of the road signs, or language and no map, arriving with minutes to spare to catch the Trans-Siberian Railway to Moscow on her way to Dublin to start at the University of Dublin.
Broadcasting
Rachel Burden began her broadcasting career at Radio Suffolk before moving to BBC Radio Bristol after a year, where she presented the breakfast programme, Morning West, with Rob Salvidge from January 2003.
A year later she progressed to national radio at 5 Live, where she currently presents the weekend breakfast programme with Phil Williams in addition to relief presenting on the stations weekday "Drive" show including doing outside broadcasts from Bristol as part of a simulcast with the BBC Asian Network and BBC Radio 1Xtra during the 2005 General Election.
In June 2008, Rachel narrated Nature Inc for BBC World, while she has also reported for BBC Two business programme Working Lunch.
On 20 September 2009, Rachel covered the buildup to the Great North Run with George Riley on Radio 5 Live.
Rachel has also covered for Simon Mayo on his afternoon show and she has filled in for Richard Bacon's nighttime slot (10:30pm - 1:00am) on Radio 5 Live.
