Rachael Elliott

Rachael Elliott (born 10 March 1978) is a British racing cyclist who competes in the road time trial. She is the current holder of the British 30 mile record, and has personal bests of 20:08 for 10 miles and 51:51 for 25 miles and received notoriety for becoming the Brompton World Champion two years in a row.
Elliott grew up in Lymington, Hampshire and attended university in Islington, London. She currently lives in Newbury, Berkshire.
Career
Elliott trained as a violinist, and attended City University and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Upon graduating, she freelanced as a violinist in London and took up a number of teaching posts.
Elliott changed career to work as an analyst in a competitive intelligence company. She has worked for Marakon Associates, HSBC, BDO LLP, CBRE and has been employed as the Insight Manager at the corporate finance firm, BCMS in Kingsclere, Berkshire since August 2016. She also regularly writes articles for the information professional website, Jinto.
Sporting career
Elliott took up running in 2005. Her first race was the Cancer Research UK Race for Life in Oxford. She completed the five kilometres in 22:20 and, over a period of four years, reduced her 5k time to 17:52, her 10k time to 36:58, 10 miles to 60:25 and half marathon to 1:20:25. Her career ended with an incurable bout of plantar fasciitis in 2009.
Elliott then took up cycling. Her first race was the Brompton World Championship held at Blenheim Palace near Oxford. She finished second to the reigning national time trial champion, Julia Shaw, before winning the following two years in a row.
Elliott's first time trial race was on the H10/3A course west of Newbury where she rode 25:18 on her road bike. She returned the following week and reduced her time by a minute. Over the course of her first season, she achieved club records with her cycling club, the Newbury Road Club and finished the season with a 22:52 10 mile time and a 57:51 time for 25 miles.
Elliot is currently in the semi-final stage of the Zwift Academy - a worldwide cycling competition run by the online cycling platform, Zwift, and the professional women's team, Canyon SRAM.
Sports Administration
Elliott is secretary of the Newbury Road Club, and National Secretary of the Veterans Time Trials Association. She also sits on the board of the London West CTT District Committee, as well as Reading Track League.
