History

It's not often you get a metal/noise band signing to an indie label (Secretly Canadian) predominantly full with singer/song writers. It's also not often that a band of such ferocity would record an album with Mike Mogis (of Bright Eyes fame). However, Racebannon have never been about fitting the mould.

Hailing from Bloomington, IN the band were formed in 1996 by vocalist Mike Anderson and James Bauman. Not too long after they completed their line up with Chris Saligoe on bass and Brad Williams on drums. The chaos was formed. They had a few minor releases on indie labels before signing to Secretly Canadian to release their album 'In The Grips Of The Light'.

Their second album with the label was to be the concept Rock-Opera album 'Satan's Kickin Yr Dick In'. An intense noise record both rich in sound and storyline. In 2005 Secretly Canadian re-released 'First There Was The Emptiness' and then there was a void.

3 years along the line Racebannon signed a deal (apparently in real blood) with influential Indie label Southern Records. New album 'Acid and Blood' is schedueled for release in July 2008.
