R.Gopakumar

R. Gopakumar (1972- ) is a Contemporary Indian Painter, Digital Artist.
Life
Life as a child was always beautiful and fresh like the Morning dew. I was blessed as the 5th child to my late father Ramakrishna Pillai and Mother Janamma on 1972 in the state of Kerala, The God’s own country which lies in South India. We depended on traditional agriculture for our living and our family occupation as farmers always kept me close with nature.
I think artists are born and not made. How much ability they have, and what they are able to do with it varies depending on the rest of the personality and probably the early circumstances of their lives. Some with very little ability are able to forge huge, successful careers, while others with tremendous ability cannot move ahead at all. Thus it is that I have always been an artist.
Philosophical Outlook
”I am not a traditionalist, questioning the social condition of the society. To achieve this, I use Visual arts but not bothered of Forms, Color, Medium etc.”, R.Gopakumar
His earlier paintings were created with water color, Oil paint and Mixed media (Terracotta, Glass Painting). The great difficulty in the digital media facing is that the loss of the spontaneous feelings but in his works this problem doesn't occurs, this is due to the imagination and concentration of the artist and the meditation he passes through while a new work is being developed.
The main elements of painting, forms and colors deployed with juxtaposition. We can see the influence of Metaphysics, Cognitive Science, Anthropology and Psychology in his works, also Contemporary Culture, Globalization, Environmentalism, and Consumerism too.
He was also influenced by the Conceptual art, Abstract art, Indian Tantra Art and African textiles design. We can feel the transparent color pattern overlapped many places and it forms a rhythm and flow. Abstraction and Realism are merged in these work. In his paintings there are no barriers that of Time, Place, Space, Religion, Sex etc, it is Universal.
