qutIM (the name is produced as homophone of the "Cute IM") is a cross-platform open source multi-protocol client, licensed under the terms of the GNU General Public License. Project began in January 2008 and is under active development. Main goal was to create fast and user friendly ICQ client. Nowadays qutIM provides powerful plugin system for developers, so that it can support any IM-protocol. Currently ICQ, XMPP, , VKontakte.ru, Twitter and IRC protocols are developed. The program is written in with Qt 4.4. There are official builds for Windows, Mac OS X, Debian GNU/Linux and unofficial for many other platforms: SUSE Linux, Mandriva Linux and others. 28 November 2009 project changed control version system from SVN to Git, sources are avaiable at gitorious.org now.
