Harris Stratyner

Harris B. Stratyner, Ph. D. is a licensed psychologist and Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor with over 32 years of experience in the field of drug and alcohol addiction treatment. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Vice Chairman of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence.
He was listed in the Castle Connelly almanac as one of the field’s leading specialists.

Formerly Director of Addiction Services at Mount Sinai as well as New York Presbyterian Hospital Westchester, Dr. Stratyner founded Madison East and The Retreat at Westchester, respectively. Currently, Dr. Stratyner serves as Vice President of Caron Treatment Centers’ New York Regional Office, overseeing clinical staff and implementing programs and workshops for individuals in recovery. He also serves as a spokesperson for Caron, often fulfilling requests for his expertise and insights regarding current addiction and mental health issues. In addition, Dr. Stratyner has hosted his own radio show for 20 years on AM 1230 WFAS called "Here's to Your Good Health". He appears frequently on national television including CNN, NBC, ABC, FOX, and CBS. He has also been a Contributing Editor for the "PDR for Mental Health Professionals,” and is the coauthor of "The PDR for Pediatric and Adolescent Mental Health." Dr. Stratyner is perhaps best known for his development of "Carefrontation" in treating individuals with psychiatric and substance abuse disorders. This technique “combines the latest motivational engagement techniques and an environment of respect and dignity to stress individual responsibility to deal with one’s addiction or mental health condition.”
