Purist Satanism

Purist Satanism is defined as the strict observance and insistence on purity of Satanic religious beliefs, philosophies, and practices dating back to the period known as the Neolithic Era. Purist Satanism is based upon the belief that man needs ritual, dogma, fantasy, and enchantment.

Overview

Purist Satanism, sometimes called Symbolic Satanism, is the belief that Satan is a metaphoric representation, most clearly symbolized in the Roman God Lucifer, the bearer of light, the spirit of the air, and the personification of enlightenment. Satan is not visualized as an anthropomorphic being, rather he represents the forces of nature. To the Purist Satanist, the self is the highest embodiment of human life and is sacred. Purist Satanism is essentially a human potential movement, and are encouraged to develop whatever capabilities they can by which they might excel. They are, however, cautioned to recognize their limitations - an important factor in this philosophy of rational self-interest. Satanists practice magic, the art of changing situations or events in accordance with one's will, which would normally be impossible.

Purist Satanists study pertinent writings which serve as guidelines for Satanic thought, such as, but not limited to, the works of Charles Darwin, Mark Twain, the Marquis de Sade, George Bernard Shaw, Friedrich Nietzsche, Dr. John Dee, Aleister Crowley, Ragnar Redbeard, as well as works of Temple of Set founder Michael A. Aquino on top of the Satanic Bible by Anton LaVey. However, it is advised that all readers check their sources closely as facts that have been uncovered since the late 1990s have shown that the Satanic Bible had been predominantly plagiarized by its supposed author.

History

Purist Satanism is an eclectic body that traces its origin to many sources - the Hermatic Order of the Knights of Templar of fourteenth century France, Sir Francis Dashwood's Hellfire Club of eighteenth century England, the ritual magic of Aleister Crowley (nineteenth and twentieth centuries), Alchemists, and other Historical Black Orders, some of which date back to the Neolithic Age (10,000 B.C.E.). It departs from other Satanic Sects by its openness of its magical endeavors and its honesty to its members and the public.

Satanic Rituals

Magic, pertaining to Satanic worship and defined by Aleister Crowley, is defined as the science and art of causing change to occur in conformity with will. Satanic Worship consists of magical rituals and there are three basic types: LUST, to fulfill a sexual desire; COMPASSION, to help oneself or another; and CURSE, used to productively vent anger or hate. These rituals can be performed by Purist Satanists of any level and at the discretion of each individual, however, only ordained Ministers are permitted to perform WEDDINGS, unBAPTISMS (also known as the Satanic Baptism), and FUNERALS.

Satanic Holidays

The highest holiday in Purist Satanism is one's own birthday. To use the words of Aleister Crowley, "every man and everyone woman is a star", Purists take that one step further by stating that everyone is a GOD if s/he chooses to recognize that fact. After one's own birthday, Walpurgisnacht (April 30/May 1) and Halloween are the most important. Walpurgisnacht is the grand climax of the vernal equinox and Halloween was the great fire festival among the ancients. The solstices and equinoxes - which fall in March, June, September, and December are also celebrated. Historically, the vernal equinox, in March, is celebrated as the Satanic New Year.

Satanic Laws and Ethics

Purist Satanists oppose use of narcotics because they serve no further purpose then to dull the senses, and oppose suicide, which cuts off life (the great indulgence). Purist Satanism philosophy states that it is sinful to be Stupid, Pretentious, Egotistical, Self-Deceptive, Conforming without self benefit, Lack Perspective, Forget past Orthodoxes, to Lack Aesthetics, and to be Counterproductively Prideful.

The ethical practices of Purist Satanism are codified in the following list of Satanic Ethics:

1. Do not share your troubles, or give opinions or advice, unless you are sure that others want to hear them.

2. When in another’s dwelling, show them respect or else do not go there. Or, if a guest in your dwelling annoys you, treat them cruelly.

3. Do not steal that which does not belong to you.

4. Do not make sexual advances unless the other individual is willing and of, or over, the age of consent.

5. Do not harm young children under any circumstances.

6. Do not kill non-human animals unless in defense or for food.

7. Do not deceive yourself with absurd exaggerations of who, or what, you are.

8. Fear not men, nor fates, nor gods, nor laughter of folk folly, nor any other power.

9. When in neutral territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask them to stop. If they do not, use whatever force is necessary to defend yourself.

10. If you have used magic successfully to obtain your desires, acknowledge its power.

11. Otherwise, do what you will.

Modern Practice of Purist Satanism & The Darkside Collective

The only modern Satanic sect to adhere to Satanic Philosophy as strictly as required by the philosophies of the Purist Satanists is the Darkside Collective. Since it was established on March 21, 1999 the Darkside Collective is the only sect of Satanism that promotes the strict philosophies set as Purist Satanism.

The Darkside Collective is focused in the Central Church in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It accepts or rejects all potential members and charters other congregations around the world. Isolated individuals relate directly to the Central Church. Power to regulate members is in the hands of the council. The Priesthood of the Darkside Collective is comprised of individuals who are adept in the performance of rituals. The rank of Priest is also conferred on those who have achieved a measurable degree of esteem or proficiency and/or success; one's level of membership within the Darkside Collective corresponds with his/her position and level of success outside the Church. Members and supporters of the Darkside Collective are spread around most countries, including: Canada, America, Australia, Europe, Asia, South America and Africa.
