PubCon

Pubcon is a popular series of social media and search engine optimization (SEO) marketing conferences and expos. Pubcon holds multi-track conferences in various United States and European cities, always including an autumn conference at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Where
Pubcon conferences have taken place in Las Vegas, London, Boston, Dallas, Irvine, California, Orlando, New Orleans and Austin, Texas. In 2012 Pubcon took place on February 13-15 in Honolulu, Hawaii, and on October 15-19 in Las Vegas. In 2013 Pubcon conferences will take place in New Orleans on April 22-25 and in Las Vegas on October 21-25.
Why
Pubcon, which calls itself “The Premier Search And Social Media Conference,” is supported by the search and social media industry's businesses, speakers, exhibitors, and sponsors involved in new media, Internet marketing, search engines, and online advertising. Pubcon conferences offer an in-depth look at the future of technology presented by hundreds of international experts speaking on hundreds of educational panel sessions about search and social media.
Pubcon originally began in 2000 as an informal gathering of early Web search engine optimizers and webmasters at a London pub, giving birth to the pub conference.
Industry insiders, owners and chief executives, founders and corporate presidents join social media and search engine company engineers, programmers alongside marketing and affiliate program professionals from around the world to meet at Pubcon conferences and explore the future of the Web and the people who use and expand it every day.
Pubcon provides search and new media industry professionals a conference to learn, advance new agendas, and to meet and network with some of the key people that don't go to any conference but Pubcon.
Pubcon Las Vegas is annually one of the biggest international gatherings of optimization and social media professionals.
Who
Pubcon was formerly organized and hosted by Austin, Texas-based WebmasterWorld Inc., one of the Web's oldest and most authoritative Web technology message forum communities, with roots dating back to the mid-1980s computer bulletin board systems, and is now operated by Austin-based Pubcon Inc.
Pubcon was founded by WebmasterWorld chief executive Brett Tabke. Staff members include director of operations Jeff Randall, evangelist Joe Morin, lead editor Lane R. Ellis, office manager Elaine Diefenderfer and special projects manager Erika Tabke, among others.
Pubcon History
Pubcon began in 2000 as an informal gathering of early Web search engine optimizers and webmasters at a London pub, giving birth to the pub conference.
Over the years Pubcon shifted the meaning of its name to place less emphasis on the celebratory pub gathering experience and instead started focusing more on the aptly named professional Web "publishing conference" it quickly became.
Despite the subtle change in the meaning of its name, Pubcon has maintained the pub gathering tradition for more than a decade as a part of what are now some of the world's largest new media conferences.
