Korean Presbyterian Church of Metro Detroit

Korean Presbyterian Church of Metro Detroit, which is also known as KPCMD, is a Korean Presbyterian Church that is located in Southfield, Michigan which is in the Oakland County. Even though the church is primarily for Koreans, it also welcomes any nationality. They also invite those who do not believe the christianity or have not heard the gospel, so they too can experience. The grounds of the church has three buildings. One is the main building which hold services, fellowship, or any other events are being held. The other building is the education building for little children to learn and worship the Christianity beliefs. The last building is the gym which holds sporting events or for people to enjoy to do activities.
History
The church started as a group around May 28, 1967. As time passed, more people join to participate this ministry. The first pastor was Hwang Gwan Il but later resigned in the late December 1970. The first church was built in the city of Southfield on September 1, 1975. The gym was built on January 27 in 2008.
Ministry
The ministry is divided into four main groups. One of the main groups is the Elementary Group which has the people who are in Kindergarten to the Elementary grades. This ministry learn the basic beliefs of Christianity. The Youth Groups has people who are in the ages of middle and high school students. The Youth Group looks more deeper in to the meanings of the beliefs and they all together come up with activities to bond together as a real family. The other ministry are the English and Korean. These ministry depends on people's preferred language and each has different pastor. This ministry has young adult or elders and they host mostly every activities and events.
Events
Every Sunday, each ministry has its own worship service, but in different time. The Korean ministry has two services, but the other ones have just only one. The Youth Group has their own worship service in not only Sunday, but in the day Friday as well. As for the Korean Ministry, they also have a service in Wednesday night as well. The activities event are held on the special days from the history of the church and on the holidays. In some events, they are required to go to retreat as to experience the Christian life. In some other times, they get together with other churches and made an event for people to meet other Korean from other Korean churches. One for example is MCKC, which youth groups from other churches gather together and have a retreat session together. This church also not only celebrates the American holidays, but also celebrates Korean holidays.
Activities
Since it was stated before, the gym was used for people to enjoy sports. But not only sports were used, there are other activities for people to join. The choir are a group of people that enjoys to sing hymns and other type of gospel songs. the praise band are also another group of people that enjoys to use music as their talent, but however, they use guitars, drums, bass, and other rock band appliances. The youths can learn Korean by participating the Korean school.
