Prudence Murphy

Prudence Murphy is an Australian artist born in 1970 in Queanbeyan, New South Wales, Australia. She has exhibited internationally in Japan, Slovenia, America, Ireland, Spain and France and throughout Australia.
She studied Visual Communications at the University of Technology, Sydney and is a graduate of the College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales (Bachelor of Fine Arts with First Class Honours, 1999 & Master of Fine Arts, 2002). In 2007 she was short listed for RIPE: Art and Australia Contemporary Art Award. Murphy generally works in photographic media but has also worked with various mediums including works on paper, printed media, sound installation, performance, multiples, artist books and animation.
Murphy's first solo exhibition, 'Cabello en Alimbar' was held in 1997 at Galeria Ferran Cano in Barcelona. Her other solo exhibitions include 'The Male Grooming Series', James Dorahy Project Space, Sydney (2007), 'revisiting the Pamper Plan', James Dorahy Project Space (2006), 'roll it up until it's nice & tight', Koskela, Sydney (2002) and 'Simply draw it out & start again' Room 35, Gitte Weise Gallery, Sydney (2001).
