Proposed Language Reform for Ethiopia is a two-volume book written by Lou T.M. Kahssay. The first volume, Volume I: Orthography (ISBN-13: 978-0995091108), was published by Three Qua Publishing in December 2016. The second volume, Volume II: Grammar (ISBN-13: 978-0995091115), has not yet been published. Taking the Ethiopian Semitic languages of Amharic and Tigrinya as examples and written in English, Volume 1 argues that currently there is a language crisis in Ethiopia affecting the nation's socio-economic progress and proposes possible solutions that include reform of the Ethiopic script, among others. If implemented, the proposed language reform will be the most comprehensive in the history of Ethiopia.
