Classics Illustrated Special Issue: The United Nations
The Classics Illustrated Special Issue: The United Nations (issue no. 168) is a series of comic books about the United Nations published in the 1960s by Gilberton, a publishing company in the United States. It is a part of the Classics Illustrated comic book publication series. The United Nations comic books were available in two versions, namely the United States series and the European Special series. The U.S. series were published until 1962, while the European series (including an English-language edition) - printed from Norway - were published until 1964. This special issue - particularly the British edition - was available and sold only at the United Nations. Copies of the special issue are now rare, and may only be available at present through auctioneers. Apart from English, the comic book had also been published in other languages, such as the Dutch version. In October 2004, according to Jack Lake Productions Inc. from Canada, the series of 96-paged special issues of Classics Illustrated comic books (composed of 16 separate titles all in all) - including the "United Nations" title - will be reproduced and introduced through the use of digital technology and in hardcover.
