2012 Izu Islands earthquake

The 2012 Izu Islands earthquake, a moderate underwater earthquake, ocurred near the Izu Islands in Japan. The earthquake caused little apparent damage, with no initial reports of damaged buildings or injuries.
Earthquake
The earthquake was 6.8-magnitude, which hit off the coast of southeastern Japan on Sunday, centered near Japan’s Izu Islands, about 307 miles south-southwest of Tokyo. The earthquake took place at around 02:27:54 PM at epicenter on 1 January 2012, on the eve of New Year 2012. It was an underwater earthquake at a depth of 230 miles below the sea. Buildings in the Tokyo area shook, with no damage or injuries been reported, and did not generate a tsunami.
