Digital V.I.P. is a distinction given by the Producers Guild of America to honor the foremost minds in the digital entertainment space. There are three categories with three honorees in each- Visionaries, Innovators and Producers. The Visionary category is to honor those who bring new ideas about the creative application of technology and advance story telling across all media. The Innovators category is for those who have developed new methods or technology to enable the production of story telling. Finally, the Producers category honors those who have created content whose reach, execution and influence has advanced the audience experience. Members of the Producers Guild and accredited representatives of digital storytellers can nominate members and non-members alike for the awards. Honorees are determined by the Producers Guild Digital V.I.P. committee (co-chaired by Marc Scarpa and Shawn Gold) along with Producers Guild President Mark Gordon and the Industry Advisory Board members. 2012 members of the Board include Jason Calacanis, Sharon Calahan of Pixar, actress/producer Illeana Douglas, Dick Glover of Funny or Die, Quincy Jones III, John Rubey of AEG, Chris Williams of Maker Studios and Mark Cuban..
