Preben Damgaard

Preben Damgaard was born in 1963. He holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration and a Graduate Diploma in Organization, Informatics and Management Accounting from the Copenhagen School of Economics and Business Administration.
Career
1983 - The Beginning of Great Technology
It all started in Denmark where the two brothers, Preben and Erik Damgaard, introduced their first PC-based accounting program called DANMAX. That was only two years after the first Personal Computer heralded the advent of the digital age!
1983 - 1984 Founds the IT development company Damgaard Data A/S. Objective: to develop user-friendly Integrated Enterprise Solutions.
1984 - 1987 Build-up of domestic service and sales organization. Build-up of indirect distribution for sales and services of Integrated Enterprise Solutions. Three years later, Damgaard launched CONCORDE Finance (today known as CONCORDE 4) in the Danish market. CONCORDE Finance was among the very first integrated business management solutions offering full support for the local area network (LAN) technology. The LAN paradigm shift provided small and mid-sized companies the ability to take full advantage of the personal computer. CONCORDE Finance allowed companies and individual users to adapt the solution to individual requirements. CONCORDE 4 is continuously maintained, being still available in the Danish market today.
1987 - 1999 International positioning of Damgaard as one of the leading providers of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools for small and medium-sized companies. ‘Codename Atlanta’ began the path to Axapta and the revolution in ERP that Damgaard would become famous for.
1999 As of August 1999, Damgaard A/S had 11 international subsidiaries with distribution in 29 countries - and with over 74,0000 installations worldwide. Preben was instrumental in building the strategic alliances with Microsoft, Oracle, Compaq, and IBM.

In October 1999, Damgaard A/S was successfully listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. The IPO was lead managed by Goldman Sachs International and co-lead managed by Enskilda Securities and Nykredit Markets. The size of the offering, including the green shoe, was 3,450,000 shares, offered at a price of DKK 320. The offering was subscribed more than 16 times. The founders of the company, Preben Damgaard and his brother Erik, retain the majority of the shares in Damgaard A/S.
This led to Damgaard being a leading provider of end-to-end e-commerce and collaborative business solutions for medium-sized companies. The new organization boasts a global customer base of more than 121,000 installations and a strong international sales channel of more than
2,000 business partners, a presence in 25 countries, and over 1,000 employees.
Preben Damgaard the led the successful execution of the merger. During 2002, in their largest purchase ever, Microsoft Corporation acquires Navision for USD 1.55 billion in cash and shares, thereby founding a new division within Microsoft - Microsoft Business Solutions. Preben Damgaard becomes Vice President, Europe/Middle East/Africa Operations as well as a member of the European leadership team at the company’s European headquarters in Paris.
2003 On July 1, Preben Damgaard leaves Microsoft to spend more time with his family and to pursue other interests. Just six weeks prior to his 40th birthday.
Preben Damgaard is a member of several boards of IT companies and organizations, including the IT University in Copenhagen, Nordic Information Group A/S, and Gladsaxe Theater. Preben Damgaard also sits on the Advisory Board of Cisco Systems Danmark A/S and Proactive A/S, and he is a member of Representatives of the Danish Chamber of Commerce. Finally, Preben Damgaard has been Chairman of The Marguerite, a residential institution for disabled children, since 1997.
