Prashanth Venkataramanujam (born March 12, 1987) is an Indian-American stand-up comedian and actor. In 2008, Venkataramanujam appeared as a semi-regular on the hit web-series ', which received honors from the TV and Film Accolade Awards. Biography Venkataramanujam was born in Downers Grove, Illinois. He graduated from Downers Grove South High School and then he went on to attend University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, where, in May, 2009, he graduated with a degree in molecular and cellular biology. He also attended and graduated from the summer conservatory at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in 2008. Career Early career Venkataramanujam began writing and performing stand up by the age of 16 in Chicago. In 2008, Venkataramanujam was named a regional winner in the Rooftop College Comedy Competition . He is now currently touring as a member of The Brown Man Group, a 3-man stand up ensemble composed of Asif Ali, Hasan Minhaj, and Prashanth Venkataramanujam . Television In the fall of 2007, Venkataramanujam was asked to audition for a role in ', a drama-edy about life as a college dorm resident adviser, by the series creator Derek Klein. Klein had approached Venkataramanujam about the role while to two were working together as university IT technicians. Venkataramanujam was offered a recurring role on the series as antagonist Jacob Winters, who he portrayed throughout the first season. Film In September 2008, ' producers Derek Klein and Marc Morin Jr. had begin discussing the possibility of a cinematic sequel to the series after strong DVD sales. However, due to academic and other commitments on various key members of the cast, the ' movie was quickly scrapped for a film based on a completely different concept, A Certain Point Of View.The entire film was shot in just 6 days at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, while a majority of the student body was on spring break. It is expected to be released on DVD in December, 2009 .
