Positive Negative Magazine

Positive Negative Magazine is an annual publication created solely by students. It is produced by the Editorial Design and Photography class at Rochester Institute of Technology in the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences. Students are responsible for every aspect of the magazine, from concept, text and art, to the printed and electronic publication of the magazine. Awards 2014 Positive / Negative Magazine 7, Editorial Design, co-taught with Professor Denis Defibaugh, Fall Magazine received ADDY Awards from the Rochester Advertising Federation: Gold for cover design, Gold for interior design, and Silver for a spread called Mass Surveillance. Also won Addy District 12 Gold Awards for interior design and National Addy Gold Award for Student Publication Design. Semi-finalist in Adobe Design Achievement Awards. Best in Show for Student Work in the AIGA New York State of Design Competition 2012-2013 Positive / Negative Magazine 6, Editorial Design, co-taught with Professor Denis Defibaugh, Fall Magazine received ADDY Awards from the Rochester Advertising Federation: Gold for cover design and Silver for interior design 2011-2012 Positive / Negative Magazine 5, Editorial Design, co-taught with Professor Denis Defibaugh, Winter Magazine received two Platinum Awards for Cover Design and Interior from CREATIVITY INTERNATIONAL AWARDS 42nd Annual Print and Packaging Competition. Entries from 31 countries. 2010-2011 Positive / Negative Magazine 4, Editorial Design, co-taught with Professor Denis Defibaugh, Winter Magazine received Platinum Award for Student Photography, Magazine or Series from CREATIVITY INTERNATIONAL AWARDS 40th Annual Print and Packaging Competition. Entries from 31 countries. 2007-2008 Positive / Negative Magazine 1, Editorial Design, co-taught with Professor Denis Defibaugh, Winter Magazine received Outstanding Student Magazine Award / Interior from CREATVITIY INTERNATIONAL AWARDS 38th Annual Print and Packaging Competition.
