POP Station devices

POP Station devices are handheld video game systems. They are typical of many (typically Chinese produced) knock-offs that have flooded Western markets (especially in low price-point outlets such as Poundland and dollar stores) in recent years. Often the designs are such an obvious departure from the machines they try to replicate.
POP Station
The POP Station is a clone of the PSP. The gameplay is similar to the styles of Nintendo's Game and Watch series, where fixed shapes on an display light up when required, rather than a matrix of pixels. The screen is an LED back-lit LCD display, with the colors being red, blue, and green. There are 5 games available for this system; Street Fighter, Submarine Invasion, Soccer, Fortress Guardian, and Midnight Motorcycle.
PCP Station
The PCP Station is the (assumed) successor to the POP Station, Like the original POP Station, it also resembles a PSP but the buttons evoke the look of an Xbox 360 controller. The unit itself appears more rounded, and appears slightly more advanced than the POP Station and Neo Double Games, in that its screen is a standard monochrome LCD display, but with a white-blue LED backlight which illuminates a translucent, fixed, colour backdrop.
Included Games
Many games included on the PCP Station are either conversions of old games used on other POP Station similar devices, or new ones that are at least heavily inspired by other existing games such as "STREET OVERLORD"'s resemblance to Capcom's Street Fighter, "SUPER MARY" and Nintendo's Super Mario Bros. and "THUNDERBOLT AIRPLANE"'s similarity to Sega's After Burner.
Another model, the PCP Station LTPS Handheld Game exists, fashioned to look like the PSP Go. It is a cartridge system, but has no electronics inside it; and no longer has interchangeable screens. The technology it used was very similar to the GameKing.
Neo Double Games
The Neo Double Games is similar to the POP Station except in the shape and resemblance of a Nintendo DS.
Design
The Neo Double Games console's screen is an LED backlit LCD screen with color overlays, consisting of the colors green, red and white. Gameplay is similar to Nintendo's Game and Watch series, where symbols in predefined areas of the screen light up when required. The console uses game cartridges for each game and is packaged with two games. In total, there are four available games: "Soccer", "Submarine Invasion", "Fortress Guardian" and "Street Fighter".
The logo that is featured on the front of the box bears resemblance to the Nintendo DS logo, with words substituted as required. Its packaging is copied from that of the PlayStation Portable.
Reception
The manufacturing is of poor quality and the games were almost identical to those of existing 'POP Station' systems and equally difficult or impossible to play. It is also noted that you would have to purchase a large set of them just to find a single unit that worked, and noted that the unit even breaks when one swaps the game. It is joked that it also happens if one looks at them, breathes near them, or if they "start to exist at any stage".
Other Versions
The Neo Double Games console's manufacturers have also released a "Delight" version, which instead takes its appearance from the Nintendo DS Lite.
Problems
The interchangeable game 'screens' are often accidentally released with software from a different game, resulting in games that display the wrong graphics, which flicker randomly, making them impossible to play. The sound in these defective cartridges usually remains intact, so one can tell what game the software is from by comparing the music that is played as each game is switched on.
ProPop and Neo Quad Games
The ProPop is another POP Station device but it resembles an iPod Classic. It features a game not featured in the other POP Stations, Basketball. The Neo Quad Games is a laptop-like POP Station devices with LCD screens and is capable of holding 4 games.
Retieval Mankind's Batman
Retieval Mankind's Batman is another POP Station device in the shape of the Batman logo. It is known for its bizarre, nonsensical name apparently resulting from poor translation. There is a switch for selecting the games so it can't confuse the games, as well as two controllers, intended for multiplayer, that have attracted criticism for being so small that they are near, if not actually, unusable.
3D Color Games
3D Color games are POP Station devices that consists of a screen that flips out and a mirror. The games are Submarine Attack, Super Fighter (although called Immortal Fighter in the game), Rally Thunder, and Soccer. The mirror is supposed to create the 3D effect, though this has attracted criticism for not being 3D.
