THE POLICE OFFICERS BODY MICROPHONE
The police body microphone is a microphone specifically designed for and fitted for a police uniform. Also known as the lapel mic it is securely attached to the users epaulet. Allows Mic to be securely extended for talking listening, without being dislodged, dropped during a foot pursuit or arrest. Without (In most cases) the need to re-clip after use.

long island New York..An electronics geek into CB radios and anything else electronic, heard his farther say at a club setting he can fix anything just give him a knife... The problem with this 9 year old Manuel Salgado Of many decent(Portuguese, German, Blackfoot American Indian, and English) was That "He Did Fix Things", still his stubborn farther neglected him out of some form of jealousy. In That he had begun to quit trying.. but then decided he would not be undermined and bought soldering irons and solder and practiced his skills privately.
How this came about:
His sister Elena also geeky at the time helped him with the radio checks for many day's at a time, His brother Paul (An FM radio DJ wannabee) helped with the equipment, They used a Lafayette HE-20 as a base unit and a three crystal walkie talkie radio as a receiver for the coiled mic which is today seen on every police officer all around the world.
THE PURPOSE:
Whether it is clipped to the pocket or shoulder... The point of this discovery is to shorten time response with hands free operation when communicating with a dispatcher. What this discovery did was save reaction time of the police officer.
At the time an ear piece a 2" speaker strapped to the ear for receiving audio was employed.
The obvious coiled microphone then was meant to be easily visual with the intent to intimidate individuals.
Discovery General:
There was a place located on long island in New York,
A business run by Mr.perfeito Salgado, and his beautiful wife Louise Salgado.
This place was called ACE CLEANERS It was a place (one of the first) on long island to dry clean cloths..Back then there were many gangs and mafia activity.
things like this inspired Manuel to police the neighborhood and with his skills in electronics he invented THE POLICEMAN'S BODY MICROPHONE When officers
from the 6th precinct questioned him about this apparatus he shrugged and was afraid he would get in trouble, But they were always happy and protective of him. Still he feared his dad for "playing with wires" Many of these officers were customers of ACE CLEANERS A few years past then he ran into an old friend with a microphone dispatching authority to save lives. A man from Coram a man from the 6th precinct who said Thanks kid for the toy!
