Plankton (Web video producer)
|
Plankton (real name Anton Reim; * 1994 in Ledenevo, Kazakhstan) is a German-Kazakh web video producer from Hamburg, who primarily publishes animations and cartoons in comedic form for entertainment purposes on the video portals YouTube and TikTok. Origin of the name The name Plankton is made up of “Pl”, the first two letters of the web video producer's real name “an”, an inserted “k” and finally the remaining parts of the first name “ton”. Thus, the pseudonym contains the entire first name of the owner of the YouTube channel or the account on TikTok and some additional components, which in their entirety form the stage name Plankton in reference to the aquatic organism plankton. Videos On his channel, he mainly shares YouTube shorts in which he imparts facts and knowledge. In addition, he uploads longer animations every week in which he talks about his life or topics that concern him while drawing matching animations. He publishes his short videos on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. The topics cover topics like Windows Vista, license plates, bicycles or chewing gum. The videos have cucumbers accompanying element (as in the shape of the characters), and a reference to the fictional country "Gurkistan". Style Most of Plankton's videos are predominantly in a simple cartoon style with monochromatic plain animations, sometimes combined with screenshots. The drawing style is similar to doodles. Many videos incorporate gags into typical everyday situations, for example with talking objects. Apart from a few Running Gags, most of the videos have no thematic context. Reception Plankton was nominated for and won the award in the Best Editing category at the 9:16 AWARDS ceremony for the edits of his short videos in portrait format in the form of YouTube Shorts and TikToks.
