Pius Thekemury

Pius Thekemury is a New Testament Scholar who was the past President of the scholarly Society for Biblical Studies in India. Pius Thekemury is a Jesuit belonging to the Patna Province in northern India. He is a permanent staff of Atmadarshan Jesuit Retreat Centre in Patna. He undertook doctoral studies at the Department for Biblical Studies and Historical Theology, University of Innsbruck, Innsbruck, Austria in the field of New Testament and was conferred the degree in 1992. Thekemury's doctoral dissertation was entitled Discipleship and attitudes to possessions according to the Lukan travel narrative : an exegetical and interdisciplinary interpretation of the relevant texts from Luke 9,51 - 19,44 done under the supervision of Martin Hasitschka, SJ, Professor of New Testament and Hans Rotter, SJ, Associate Professor of Systematic Theology at the University. |
