Frank and Mary's was founded in 1945 by Frank and Mary Herring at the end of World War II when Frank began selling fish sandwiches and beer in his house. The current building the restaurant is in is its third location. They moved to this location in the 1964. Before the restaurant moved to this location there was a Livery Stable from 1894 to 1915. The east side of this building was a hardware store from 1916 till 1940. The current building was built in 1916 as an Overland Auto dealership. There also has been a gas station and a hatchery in this location. Frank and Mary's has been a Herring family business for five generations.

In 1990 the Pittsboro Pizza Shoppe opened. Previous tenants have included a carpet and linoleum shop, a couple of flower shops, and a wood working shop. Frank Lovell had a barber shop here for several years. His decendants still live in the area. Probably the best known occupant was Edythe Grill who for over 40 years served up pork roast and mashed potatoes, hamburgers, and fries and chili which she made herself.

After the Pittsboro State Bank had failed during the depression, the Pittsboro Branch of the State Bank of Lizton opened in 1935. History
Once stood Parker's General Store, built in the 1850s as one of downtown Pittsboro's first brick buildings. After a fire in 1884 destoyed the Parker Store, the current building, then known as the Hayworth Building, was built in 1885. For 80 years, from 1885 to 1965, a drug store was located in this building. After being Neaville Drugs for many years, it became Bennett Drugs in 1954]. Until 1957, there were 3 rooms and 3 separate businesses in this building. The middle room was, at various times, a grocery store, barber shop, restaurant, and a dry goods store. In 1957 the west and middle rooms were remodeled into one, and Bill Bennett's drug store occupied the entire space. A grocery store was here in the late 1960s. Through much of the 1990s it was a restaurant: Barnette's, Hawkins', and Wood's. Pittsboro Veterinary Clinic stood here until it moved in 2008. Rocket's Movies and games opened in 2009 in this location. Many remember its best, however, as Tucker's Corner. In the east room of the current building, from 1900 through the 1950s, was a restaurant. Family Cuts has been in this location since 2003. They were previously locatedon North Maple Street.

Sawyer Building
The Sawyer Building or Sawyer Block is located in Pittsboro, Indiana. It was built in 1895. The building is currently used by Food Spirits Mason Inn.
History
In 1833, stood one of the first 3 log cabins in Pittsboro and the town's first store. The current building was built in 1895. Owned by Mr. Ed Sawyer, it was called the Sawyer Block. Pittsboro High School met in the upstairs from 1895 to 1897. This building housed a grocery store for many years. It had also been a bank, a restaurant, a furniture store, an office, and a flower shop. It has been the Mason Inn since 2002.
