Phurnace Software, Inc. develops and markets software that troubleshoots configuration issues and accelerates the deployment of Java EE applications.
Phurnace Software started as a business plan at the University of Texas. One of the company’s founders attended the school’s MBA program in the evenings and worked in software development during the day. His business plan addressed the lack of tools to manage Java applications. The plan was so compelling that it won the University of Texas Moot Corp competition. When he teamed with a master Java EE developer, the school project soon evolved into a software application and in February, 2006, Phurnace Software was officially founded.
Phurnace Software moved into the nationally-recognized Austin Technology Incubator (ATI), run by the University of Texas. At ATI, the company focused on refining its first product and acquiring early customers. Next, Phurnace secured its first round of venture funding from DFJ Mercury, built a management team, expanded the product line, and received provisional patents for its technology.
