Philatelic equity

Philatelic equity is the value captured through knowledge and strategy on investing in rare classic postage stamps, under the discipline of financial philately. The capturing of this information is predominantly based on the existence of the first and rare classic imperforated issues prior to 1870 and also refers to some of the rare modern day perforated issues after 1900.
The assessment of these speculative pieces of paper, no more than a square inch in size, is based on scarcity. And, scarcity will only increase in time, driving up valuations.
From the day the first postage stamp in the world was officially issued, they already had an intrinsic value for a tiny piece of paper; as stamps were bought to be affixed on mail to pay the postage rate. Hence, these rare classic postage stamps are very much works of art in miniature.
