Phi Kappa Chi

Phi Kappa Chi is a local social/service fraternity at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Phi Kappa Chi, or Philos Kruxos Christos, means "a brotherhood centered on Christ". Phi Kappa Chi was chartered on April 21, 1988 by Ty Bollinger and Trent Hampton.
University Involvement
Phi Kappa Chi actively participates in many aspects of Baylor University Greek life. This includes annual involvement in All-University Sing, where the fraternity has seen success nearly every year it has participated. The fraternity is also active in intramurals, building floats for the homecoming parade, service opportunities on and off campus, and actively supports Baylor Bears athletics. Homecoming 2008 will be the first homecoming since Phi Kappa Chi was founded that the fraternity will not be building their float with the sorority Chi Omega. The fraternity also hosts parties, mixers, their annual Yellow Rose Formal, and other social activities.
Standards of Excellence
The standards of excellence adopted by Phi Kappa Chi in 2006 set a standard for the behavior of fraternity members to best represent the Christian brotherhood of which they are a part. Among these standards include:
#Regular Christian fellowship, service to the church, and the pursuit of a deepening relationship with God.
#Serving one another, the campus, and the community.
#Active involvement to the fraternity and on-going efforts.
#A holistic pursuit of knowledge and academic integrity.
#The pursuit of sexual abstinence.
Beyond the standards mentioned above, the fraternity acknowledges that:
#Alcohol has the ability to detract from our efforts to produce positive and effective work on our campus and in our communiities. As such we believe that the highest standard that we can set for ourselves is abstinence during our years as a member of Phi Kappa Chi.
#Acts of hazing are incongruent with the group's commitment as Christian men to encourage one another, and thus we commit to a zero tolerance policy on hazing in order to uphold and abide by Baylor and Texas State Law's statements on hazing.
Anti-Drinking Policy
In the past, members took a pledge to not drink during their active status in the fraternity. In the fall of 2006, The fraternity reevaluated its stance on alcohol. The pledge of sobriety has not changed, but rather the fraternity has created a system of core values that better fits its stance.
