Pharmacology Weekly's mission is to provide the current and next generation of healthcare providers worldwide with unbiased, evidenced-based, peer-reviewed answers to important patient care questions that make pharmacology understandable and relevant.
Services
Pharmacology Weekly offers four electronic newsletters and podcasts including: Pharmacotherapy newsletter, Drug Interactions Newsletter, Pharmacogenetics Newsletter and Natural Medicine Newsletter. All newsletters are published weekly and delivered via email, except for Pharmacogenetics which is published monthly.
The information contained in these newsletters/podcasts is aimed at enhancing health care professionals' understanding of pharmacologic principles behind clinical practice in order to better prepare them for their courses, rotations, licensures, board certifications, and everyday practice.
Pharmacology Weekly also offers a fund raising program for student healthcare organizations at universities.
Editorial board and editorial process
Pharmacology Weekly’s editorial board consists of licensed and accredited physicians, pharmacists and lawyers. Residents/fellows and student representatives also aid in the editorial process. Board members are not employed by any outside agency that would be considered a conflict of interest in order to maintain objectivity.
The editorial process begins with identification of a clinically relevant, drug-related question from either a member of the editorial board or the readership. Once an appropriate question has been identified, at least 1 member of the editorial board or expert consultants is given the assignment to draft the answer. The answers provided are based on a comprehensive literature search of the current primary literature and appropriate use of reliable drug information resources. The draft newsletter then undergoes peer-review with representation by at least two different healthcare providers and at least one student enrolled in a professional program. In addition, a licensed practicing lawyer reviews every newsletter to ensure quality medical/legal information is provided or if any precedent has been established. The Editor-in-Chief then receives the peer-reviewers' comments and collaborates with the authors for appropriate incorporation of comments and final review.
