Background
Myers was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1983 and moved with his family to Los Gatos, California in 1995. He graduated from Los Gatos High School in 2001 and Boston University in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in journalism and a concentration in international relations.

From 2005 to 2007 he served in the United States Peace Corps, working in Moldova, a former Soviet republic in Eastern Europe. In his time as a volunteer, he was an English and computer teacher in a small village school. Peter Myers became an energetic participant in the Moldovan community. He worked with school age children and took part in cultural activities, such as learning traditional dances.

Political Career
Myers began his political work in 2004, when he worked over the summer for Grassroots Campaigns as a canvasser for the Democratic Party in John Kerry's failed bid for president.

Now, Myers is running for Congress because he considers the United State's military-industrial complex and our increased militarism to be a danger to the United States' future.

Political Platform
Myers' 2008 campaign focuses on the following issues:
* Restoring what he considers the U.S.'s tarnished image abroad by greatly reducing the defense budget, increasing funds for international development, and outlawing torture.
* Making the U.S. a leader in the research and use of alternative energy resources, as well as a leader in pro-environmental treaties.
* Doubling the federal education budget.
* Creating a low-cost government-based health care solution for Americans who are not well served by the current private insurance industry.
* Legalizing and taxing marijuana to the same degree as alcohol and tobacco.
* Easing immigration restrictions.
