The Peter and Catharine Whyte (Peyto) Hut is an alpine hut located on the Peyto Glacier which is part of the Wapta Icefield in Banff National Park. The hut is maintained by the Alpine Club of Canada. The hut is named after Peter and Catharine Whyte who were twentieth century Canadian artists from Banff, Alberta known for their landscape paintings of the Canadian Rockies. Their paintings and extensive collection of regional artifacts formed the genesis of what would later become the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies. The hut was renovated in June of 2000. The hut sleeps about 18 in the summer and 16 in the winter. It is equipped with propane powered lamps and stovetop. The hut requires approximately 6 to 8 hours of glacier travel to get to from the Highway access at Peyto Lake or 6 to 8 hours of glacier travel from the Bow Hut.
