Angel Millar (b. 1971) is an English author and artist whose work deals with the history and symbolism of Freemasonry and related traditions such as Rosicrucianism, alchemy, etc. He is the author of Freemasonry: A History (2005) (Polish edition: Masoneria: Zarys dziejów) and numerous articles in scholarly, Masonic, and specialist publications. Although his writing is primarily concerned with Freemasonry, etc., he published a paper in the Journal of Indo-European Studies in 2007 entitled The Old English Rune Poem - Semantics and Structure. According to his biographical page on E.S.S.W.E. Ouroboros Press will be releasing a new book by Millar, in the Spring of 2008, on the subject of Freemasonry and the Western Esoteric tradition.
Among his credentials, he is a full member of the European Society for the Study of Western Esotericism (E.S.S.W.E.), a contributing scholar to the Chancellor Robert R Livingston] Masonic Library and Museum, New York, and a member of the American Lodge of Research (a Masonic Lodge formed for the purpose of scholarly study of the subject).
As well as an author he is one of the few twenty-first century artists specializing in the creation of original Masonic tracing boards, some of which are in the collection of the Chancellor Robert R Livingston Masonic Library and Museum. In 2007 the museum presented Grand Master Bruce Widger with one of his paintings at a function held at Leonard's (restaurant) at Great Neck, New York, as a part of their fund raising activities. The New York Masonic publication, The Empire State Mason, which covered the event, commented in Summer 2007 that Millar's "artwork and writings have become renowned in Masonic collections."
